چکیده

In an environment consisting of a large number of databases, it can no longer be reasonable to assume that construction of users' views could rely on an a-priori static partial or global schema integration. Approaches which are based on integrated mechanisms are obviously intractable (if not impossible) within a large size environment. In this paper, we propose an approach where users are allowed to dynamically investigate information and incrementally specify their views. The idea is to use a functional approach to model the construction of views. Further, our approach provides a mechanism by which views adapt to the evolution of the information space. This mechanism relies on dynamic triggers to fullll this goal.

Formal Requirements Speci cation for Command and Control Systems

This paper presents an approach to formal requirements speci cation of embedded systems. The speci c demands of a speci cation for command and control systems are addressed. The proposed method allows various views of a system, like conventional methods. The added value lies in the fact that the relationship between the views is speci ed formally, and consistency between views can be analyzed f...

Re nement and Validation of Software Requirements using In - cremental Simulation

Requirements engineering refers to activities of gathering and organizing customer requirements and system speci cations, making explicit representations of them, and making sure that they are valid and accounted for during the course of the design lifecycle of software. One very popular software development practice is the incremental development practice. The incremental development refers to...

Methods and views

Many papers have been written on the structural aspect of view mecha nisms for object oriented databases A clean model that focuses speci cally on the interplay between methods and views however is still lacking This paper addresses this problem First an abstract model of behavioral views is introduced from which it becomes clear that the main issue is to allow transfer of control of a computat...

An Approach to Guided Incremental Speci cation

In this paper we present an approach to guided incremental speci cation based on speci cations derived from properties in terms of input and output waveforms. Since this leads to an incompletely speci ed nite automaton several di erent nite automata may reproduce the speci ed behaviour. This freedom is exploited to guide the designer. Intelligent questions are created from a graph{based represe...

Viewcharts: A Behavioral Speci cation Language for Complex Systems

This paper introduces a formalism, called Viewcharts, for speci cation and composition of software behavioral views. The objective is software behavioral requirements speci cation independent of implementation. The paper claims that behavioral requirements of large-scale and complex systems can be described formally as compositions of simple behavioral views. The Viewcharts formalism is present...
